GCA was retained by the client to assist with the interior environment and design of this upscale senior living community in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Named after the famous Evinrude outboard motors that were designed and built in the area, the community caters to the senior living, assisted living, and memory care residents. It allows residents to age in place without disruptive moves to new facilities as they move along the continuum of care.
Key design goals for the interior were to create a warm, welcoming home atmosphere that feels sophisticated, not clinical. Special attention was paid to the areas of community and gathering throughout the building. Upon entering the lobby, a gracious double height space is lined with soft seating and a two-story bookcase. The dining room with its variety of soft seating options and sun streaming through the windows feels more like an upscale restaurant than a resident cafeteria.
At all points throughout the design process, the focus was put on finishes and design that would elevate the perception of senior living and create a comfortable yet elegant place to feel belonging and a part of a community.
