The Center for Veterans Issues engaged with GCA in the summer of 2022 to assist with the design of an expansion to their existing Vets Place Central building on 34th and Wells Street in Milwaukee, WI. Funded partially with a grant from the Veterans Administration and Federal Home funds, the goal of the project is to convert group transitional housing rooms into 82 transitional units with a lavatory, toilet, and shower in each unit. This is being accomplished with a 66-unit addition and a 16-unit renovation of the existing building. Work is also taking place to expand Vets Place Central staff’s support offices and meeting spaces.
