OUR PROCESS

The process starts with us immersing ourselves in your story, goals, and desires. The more we learn about you, your family, or your organization, the better we are at creating a plan that answers critical questions about your vision. We work together to finalize a design that meets your goals for a building that func-tions and feels how it ought to.

PHASE ONE - INFORMATION GATHERING

Her fists a blur as they deflect an incoming hail of arrows, a half-elf springs over a barricade and throws herself into the massed ranks of hobgoblins on the other side. She whirls among them, knocking their blows aside and sending them reeling, until at last she stands alone.

Taking a deep breath, a human covered in tattoos settles into a battle stance. As the first charging orcs reach him, he exhales and a blast of fire roars from his mouth, engulfing his foes.

Moving with the silence of the night, a black-clad halfling steps into a shadow beneath an arch and emerges from another inky shadow on a balcony a stone’s throw away. She slides her blade free of its cloth-wrapped scabbard and peers through the open window at the tyrant prince, so vulnerable in the grip of sleep.

PHASE TWO - INITIAL CONCEPT

The key to unlocking the potential of your vision is found in our collaboration.

Truly, the most important part of our process is our discovery. We want to know how you got to this point. What is your personal story? What is the story of your organization? Why is this building important right now? By digging into your story, goals, and desires, we become as excited about your project as you.

It is our responsibility to make the path from start to finish very clear to you. You deserve to know how the process typically works and what to expect along the way. Our job is to make sure the surprises are good ones. The first questions our client’s often ask are, “What can we accomplish with our budget? And how long will it take?” We love answering those questions. To get the answers, we work together to define the most authentic manifestation of your vi-sion, and then we create a careful and efficient plan to complete it. We don’t guess. We do the hard work of getting it right and the care we put into it will reflect that.

PHASE THREE - DETERMINING ROUGH CONSTRUCTION COST

We seek to understand and uncover distinct patterns of human activity behind every project. Through this rigorous process of pattern writing, we break the larger design problem up into a series of smaller issues. Solving the myriad of minor design problems helps to ensure that the design gestures are fully and completely vested.

Once patterns have been established and the design is underway, we meet on a regular basis with clients to incorporate their continued feedback into the design. This truly collabo-rative effort ensures that the finished building is precisely tuned to each unique client.

PHASE FOUR - TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATIONS

A dwarf crouches behind an outcrop, his black cloak making him nearly invisible in the night, and watches an orc war band celebrating its recent victory. Silently, he stalks into their midst and whispers an oath, and two orcs are dead before they even realize he is there.Silver hair shining in a shaft of light that seems to illuminate only him, an elf laughs with exulta-tion. His spear flashes like his eyes as he jabs again and again at a twisted giant, until at last his light overcomes its hideous darkness.

PHASE FIVE - CONSTRUCTION

When the plans have come to fruition, the next step is to translate the drawings into a built form. As a part of the Construction Administration process, we will maintain continued con-versations with all parties involved in the process and keeping our eyes in the field to ensure that what is built reflects what was envisioned.
