At the same time, the U-shaped floor plan spatially distributes the main living areas to enhance the immersive experience of the surrounding gardens from every room. Expansive sliding doors facilitate the concept of engawa, effectively blurring the lines between interior and exterior spaces—a fundamental aspect of Japanese design. This commitment to integration extends to the building’s performance; the envelope is constructed with a robust 12-inch thick super-insulated shell, augmented by 6 inches of EPS insulation beneath the polished concrete slab, ensuring superior thermal performance and energy efficiency.
